Clean Beauty Expert Series: Jennifer Hanway's Inside-Out Moringa-Powered Routine

As a Holistic Nutritionist what I put on my skin is as important to me as what I put in my body. The skin is the largest organ in the body, and it is estimated that we absorb at least 60% of what we put on to it. As I go to great lengths to ensure I fuel my body with the cleanest, most natural foods I can it makes sense to me to do the same with my skincare.

I first discovered True Morniga at the W.E.L.L. Summit in 2016, where I purchased the Tranquility Moringa and Lavender Body Oil. Lavender is my most favorite scent, it is so soothing and calming, and studies show that it reduces the amount of cortisol (our stress hormone) we produce – who doesn’t need that!

At the time I was just beginning my journey into clean skincare and make up, and the True Moringa team was super helpful in explaining the benefits of using natural products, and how Moringa Oil has potent anti-aging properties and is high in antioxidants. I also loved how True Morning gave back to the communities it works with to create sustainability both for the farmers it works with and the environment it is produced in.

Now this product is part of my daily skincare routine, and I use the oil after a hot shower or bath in the evening. I keep my skincare routine pretty simple, but I like to add an extra layer of moisture at night, especially in these chilly Boston temperatures. I apply the Tranquility Moringa and Lavender Body Oil all over, and often use it in conjunction with abhyanga massage – an Aryuvedic massage technique that detoxes and rejuvenates the mind and body.


I’m so impressed by the results that True Moringa gives me that I decided to make Moringa Powder part of my diet, and often add a spoonful (or two) into my morning Superfood Smoothie. It is high in skin loving Vitamin A, calcium, iron and protein – a true superfood for both inside and out!


Moringa Superfood Smoothie

1 teaspoon moringa powder

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 cup frozen kale or spinach

½ zucchini

¼ avocado

1.5 cups almond milk


Blend all ingredients until smooth. Drink. Feel amazing.
