How Should I Remove the Hair Down There?

It’s bathing suit season and you need to get rid of some hair but don’t know the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian? Keep reading to find out what to ask for on your next waxing visit.

Waxing Prep

Bikini, Brazilian and Hollywood waxing are very intimate grooming experiences so you want to be washed when you arrive at your salon. Some salons will refuse you service on hygiene grounds if they feel you’re not clean enough.

Don’t get a wax in the same week as your period. Your skin will be more sensitive so it will hurt more. And don’t forget not to wear tight pants to your appointment, especially if it’s your first time.

Picking the right aesthetician is more important the getting the best price. Find someone who is licensed and experienced. It’s the most sensitive place to get waxed and likely to be the most painful place to mess a wax up if your salon drops the ball.

Bikini Wax

A bikini wax basically takes away only the hairs outside of your panty-line. It’s actually a good place to test the waters on your pain threshold if you’ve never waxed that area before.

Brazilian Wax

A Brazilian wax takes off more hair than a normal bikini wax but less hair than a Hollywood (also known as a Full Brazilian). The hair from your bikini top is waxed into a cute shape or strip and the rest of your hair is waxed off all the way back to your bum. It’s a great compromise for if you want more hair taken off than a bikini wax but don’t want to be completely bare down there.

Hollywood Wax

Depending on your salon the Hollywood wax might be called something else. Sometimes it’s called a full Brazilian. But essentially it means waxing all of the hair off of from your bikini top to your bottom. Everything goes!

Whatever you choose be honest and open with your aesthetician. Communication can make the difference between a horrible salon visit and a bearable one. To avoid redness, bumps and irritation, treat the waxed area daily with a non-comedogenic body oil. We reach for our 100% pure moringa oil to heal and protect this sensitive skin.
