We are thrilled to announce the launch of our True Moringa Scholarship Fund - an effort to support our farmers and their family members pursuing higher education. Each scholarship recipient will receive $400 to cover a year of tuition and fees. This year, we received five exceptional nominations, and all five students plan to use their education for the benefit of their local community. With your help, we have set a goal to raise $2000 to support these five incredible students. Read their stories below.

**UPDATE: We have hit our $2000 goal and fully funded 5 scholarships! We have set a stretch goal of $1000 to provide support for our nursery program. Additional item requests have been added.

Yaageeka Juliana

I am Yaageeka Juliana, a twenty-two year old lady from New-Longoro, a farming community in Kintampo North District in the Bono East Region of Ghana. I am a member of Yaageeka VSLA group and an ingrower farmer in True Moringa Nucleus farm. I grew up in New-Longoro with my family of eight. Both of my parents are farmers.

Times were hard but we tried to make something good out of the bad. I pursued my Senior High School education in a different town. Challenging to my parents at the time because two of my siblings were already in the secondary institution and one in the tertiary institution and the other two remaining in the basic school.

My parents had to work hard to be able to pay our school fees and also cater for our basic needs. By God's grace I am currently studying at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Assin Fosu in the Central Region of Ghana. Since I got into the tertiary institution it has been very difficult for my parents to pay my school fees talkless my pocket money.

This situation is difficult for my parents again because aside from me, they are taking care of my sister in Nurses College and two in Senior High School. I am excited to get this scholarship to relieve my parents from these burdens and also learn peacefully without the school authorities sacking me from the school or the hostel because of unpaid school fees.

Additionally, this scholarship would provide me with the foundation necessary to achieve my lifelong dream of becoming a Midwife to be able to impact my community by coming back to work in the New Longoro health center after graduation. A chance to use the knowledge I acquired to help minimize the level of maternal and infant mortality and morbidity in my community and in Ghana as a whole.

Mensah Emmanuel

Mensah Emmanuel is my name. I am 26 years old and live in New-Longoro with my parents and my six siblings. Both of my parents are farmers. Currently I am pursuing an educational course at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) through distance learning to become a teacher in the near future. I am in the second semester of level 200.

I consider this a blessing hearing that due to my father's work as an ingrower with True Moringa I have been granted the opportunity to gain a scholarship. Imagining this has already brought a great relief to my family.

It has also allowed me to focus on studies without thinking of where my next fees will come from.

I have had to absent myself from lectures every semester to help my parents do some labor work to earn enough for my school fees and pocket money. This scholarship is going to go a long way in easing the financial burden and hardship in my family while fulfilling my desire to help my community. One of the major problems New Longoro as a community faces is the lack of teachers to teach in various schools. I seek to help address this challenge by coming back to teach in my hometown after a successful completion of my studies.

Donteageme Hilda

I am Donteageme Hilda. A native of New Longoro in Kintampo North District of the Bono East region of Ghana. However, I am currently studying Public health at Bole Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Savannah Region. I have six siblings and my parents are both farmers.I am in my final year first semester and as of now I have not been able to pay my school fees, the end of semester examination is approaching and the school administration will soon start removing us from lecture and examination rooms because of unpaid fees. Because of this constraint in my education, I can not demonstrate my happiness enough towards this great scholarship opportunity at this time. This scholarship will go a long way to reduce the financial burden on my parents and grant me peace of mind to learn.

Let me simply state that community health nurses play a vital role in disease prevention through advocacy. My people in New Longoro are in dire need of professionals with this capacity to minimize the rate of cholera and malaria cases in the community. I seek to solve this to the best of my ability by coming back to serve my community after school.

Paul Yeboah

My Name is Paul Yeboah.  I am 22 years of age and a student of Ghana institute of journalism-Kumasi where I am pursuing Media and Communication. I am currently in the 2nd year of my 3 year program. Yeboah Amos and Alice Kunadu are the names of my parents. I have 3 siblings in addition to me but at the moment my parents are no more married which makes mum a single mother. Mum's health condition does not allow her to engage in many physically demanding activities. My dad is also a subsistence farmer. This makes things very difficult for me as a student. I pay my tertiary fees from my own toil and my pocket money comes from the proceeds my mum gets from the True Moringa Nucleus farm. And so, this scholarship would really relieve me from worrying about where my next fees will come from whenever I am at lectures.

Journalism and Communication is one of the most influential places where problems and desires can be solved. I want to use the microphone to improve the lives of rural people.

Domhereega Portia

My name is Domhereega Portia, I am 22 years of age. I come from New-Longoro. I live with my family, thus my Father, Mother and siblings. My father and Mother are True Moringa farmers. I am currently a student of Sunyani Technical University (STU). I am pursuing a Higher National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply with an ambition to become a procurement officer in the near future.

This scholarship opportunity will go a long way in reducing the burden of paying my school fees. During my Senior High School education, I often had to stay home longer, even after holidays, to enable my parents to raise enough money. Now that the school fees have been increased, I have been thinking about how we will cope. My dream will flourish through this great scholarship opportunity coming my way. And I am really hopeful and thankful to True Moringa for this life-changing intervention.
